Ales N’ Rails is back for its 10th year! Join SDMRM for our annual beer-tasting fundraiser celebrating local breweries, live music, and community fun in the heart of Balboa Park. The event takes place Saturday, December 13, with trains running during regular museum hours (11 a.m. – 4 p.m.) and again after hours (6 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.) for a one-of-a-kind experience surrounded by San Diego’s railroading history. Wear your most festive (or hideous!) holiday sweater for a chance to win a prize, plus enjoy raffle drawings, food, and more throughout the night.
This is a 21+ event.
This year, we’re raising $10,000 to preserve our exhibits and support the model railroad clubs that bring our layouts to life. Whether you plan to attend, donate, or sponsor, your involvement helps us grow and keep the museum thriving for years to come.
San Diego Model Railroad Museum
The San Diego Model Railroad Museum is the largest and only accredited scale Model Railroad Museum in the United States. SDMRM has collections of some of the first scale model trains ever to be built in the entire world! Plus, the museum has over 27,000 square feet of exhibiting layouts featuring the world famous Tehachapi Pass Exhibit, Historic San Diego and Arizona Eastern Exhibit, SoCal's Largest N'scale Exhibit, O-Guage Exhibit, and award winning Toy Train Gallery. The museum has extended summer hours.
