Catalina Island is home to a wide array of plants and animals that occur nowhere in the world. Artists, photographers, scientists, and nature lovers are drawn to Catalina for its astonishingly colorful beauty. Join us as we discuss the chromatic world of plants on Catalina and celebrate the island’s year-round displays of color.

Kevin Alison serves as the Native Plant Manager for Catalina Island, where he leverages his expertise in conservation, restoration, and horticulture to prevent the extinction of native plants. Kevin specializes in advanced propagation techniques such as plant tissue culture to conserve rare, endangered, and challenging-to-grow plants of Catalina. Kevin grew up in Corona del Mar before graduating from the University of Hawaii and the University of California Irvine.
