New York’s Upper West Side takes center stage in this NYC alt-romcom hangout from maverick writer/director Henry Jaglom. Karen Black embodies Zee, a middle-aged woman abandoned by her husband. Wandering the streets of Manhattan and endlessly muttering to herself, she serendipitously meets Eli (Michael Emil) at a sidewalk cafe A topsy-turvy romance ensues as they go to concerts and movies, fight and make love, and traverse city streets filled with real-life pedestrians. Filmed entirely within 20 blocks of the Museum of Natural History, Jaglom’s New York is rounded out with turns by Frances Fisher, Orson Welles, and a true to form Larry David.
