Over coffee, designer and educator Allan Manzano, founder of Dynamo Design Group, reflects on how the Filipino value of Bayanihan—the spirit of communal unity and collective effort—has shaped his path as both a creative and an educator.

Rooted in his South Bay experiences, Allan shares how reconnecting with his heritage transformed his design perspective and deepened his purpose. Guided by Bayanihan, he fosters collaboration, celebrates culture, and builds meaningful impact through design and teaching.

This conversation explores how culture grounds creativity and how design can bridge people and communities.

About Allan Manzano Allan Manzano is an educator, designer, and founder of Dynamo Design Group, a creative studio at the intersection of design, community, and culture. Through his teaching and practice, he champions design as a tool for social connection and cultural expression. Guided by the spirit of Bayanihan, his work centers on collaboration, mentorship, and uplifting others while remaining rooted in community.

Residents' Free Tuesday is Third Tuesday of Each Month In appreciation of support from San Diego County residents, Mingei International Museum is participating in Residents Free Tuesday. Free admission is available for all San Diego County residents including: Students at local colleges and universities (must show ID), active duty military (must show ID) and part-time residents / vacation home owners (does not include time share owners) Mingei International is set in lush surroundings near 17 other museums.
