The Poway Symphony Orchestra will present "Mendelssohn Classics" on Sunday, March 22, 2026, at 4 p.m. at the Poway Center for Performing Arts. Under the baton of Conductor John LoPiccolo, this program features two masterpieces by Felix Mendelssohn that are elegant, expressive and brimming with Romantic spirit.
The concert opens with the dramatic Symphony No. 5 (“Reformation”), filled with majestic themes and sweeping orchestral writing. Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto in E Minor is a jewel of the violin repertoire, known for its soaring melodies and virtuosic brilliance. The dynamic violinist YuEun Gemma Kim, praised for her vibrant artistry, joins as guest soloist. Also on the program is Beethoven's Overture to Fidelio.
