Becoming a Florist is a rotating workshop series built around the wide range of floral designs professional florists create for weddings, events, retail, and everyday work. Each month focuses on a different core floral form, giving students the opportunity to gain real-world design experience across styles, scales, and applications. You’ll learn professional florist approaches to mechanics, structure, flower care, and design decision-making, along with practical considerations like handling, transport, and longevity. This series is designed to support both arranging hobbyists and working florists looking to expand their technical skills and confidence.
This Month’s Focus: Flower Crowns
In this workshop, we’ll focus on designing a collection of wearable floral pieces, including a corsage, boutonnière, pocket boutonnière, and hair comb. Instruction will cover the specific mechanics, proportions, and techniques used for each format, along with guidance on flower selection and construction suited to movement, wearability, and longevity. Participants will create one of each wearable style during the workshop to take home. Perfect for weddings, events, and the upcoming dance and prom season, this class offers practical, real-world applications for floral design on the body.
