Join KPBS Kids at the San Diego County Fair with special guest, Clifford the Big Red Dog!

Once Upon a Fair, a celebration of stories where books are larger than life and words and artwork leap off the pages. The 2026 San Diego County Fair invites fairgoers of all ages to explore the world of books through educational exhibits, hands-on exploration, and community engagement. Visit the KPBS exhibit to explore the One Book, One San Diego program, San Diego Book Festival, and celebrate KPBS' commitment to storytelling in San Diego for 65 years. Plus, enjoy a special meet-and-greet with PBS Kids' beloved character, Clifford the Big Red Dog, as well as story times and a book giveaway!*

Based on the beloved book series by Norman Bridwell first released in 1963, Clifford the Big Red Dog follows Emily Elizabeth, Clifford and friends as they explore Birdwell Island. Clifford the Big Red Dog uses storytelling to present universal social and emotional messages to young children. Clifford and friends’ adventures will inspire imaginative play, kindness, empathy and other life lessons among preschoolers.
