Join us on Saturday, July 18 at 1:30 p.m. at the North University Community Library for a free screening of this deeply moving and fearless documentary that invites you into the extraordinary final chapter of Paralympic champion Marieke Vervoort. A four-time gold medalist, Marieke lived with excruciating degenerative spinal pain—yet chose to embrace life with unmatched intensity, humor, and courage.
Filmed over three intimate years, the documentary captures Marieke’s journey as she confronts the ultimate choice: when and how to end her suffering under Belgium’s euthanasia law. Rather than a story about death, this is a powerful celebration of life, autonomy, and the human spirit’s capacity to find meaning even in the face of unimaginable suffering. This 86-minute documentary from 2022 will challenge how you think about life, choice, and what it truly means to live fully.

The North University Community Library is located at Nobel and Judicial Drives, in the vicinity of 805. The library is in a park setting with a design for expansion when needed. Inside features include a children’s and storytelling area with a separate children/young adult librarian on site, an adult and young adult area, a computer lab with 14 computers and wireless access throughout the library, a self checkout station, two seminar meeting rooms, a separate Friends’ book store, a community/meeting room available after hours and a coffee kiosk in the vicinity of the entrance to the library.
