Community Security and Emergency Preparedness Fair

San Diego residents can meet first responders, learn practical skills, understand available local resources and see a San Diego Police drone demonstration at a free Community Security & Emergency Preparedness Fair on Saturday, September 26, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The free public event will be held indoors at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 6767 51st St., San Diego, CA 92120. Doors open at 8:30 a.m. No reservation is required. The fair is open to the public and offers free onsite parking.

An FBI special agent will open the program at 9 a.m. with a presentation on Run, Hide, Fight techniques. The day also includes a San Diego Police drone demonstration at 11:05 a.m., a fire engine available for viewing and photographs, and hourly raffle drawings beginning at 10 a.m.

Attendees may choose from short breakout sessions on emergency power, severe-weather preparation, estate planning, evacuation planning, food storage, gardening, and general emergency preparedness.

Information tables will feature SDG&E, San Diego Fire-Rescue, San Diego Police, American Red Cross, Team Rubicon, UC Master Gardeners, UC Master Food Preservers, the City of San Diego Office of Emergency Services and other preparedness partners.

Spanish translation, bottled water, and freshly popped popcorn will be available. The fair is designed to help individuals and families prepare for fires, floods, earthquakes, power outages, evacuations and other emergencies.
