Halloween is getting a four-legged twist at Margaritaville Hotel San Diego Gaslamp Quarter, where the hotel’s pup-friendly rooftop Yappy Hour will transform 5 o’Clock Somewhere Bar into a festive Howl-O-Ween celebration on Thursday, October 29 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The festive evening puts a fun spin on the hotel’s weekly Yappy Hour, inviting local dog lovers to bring their pups for an afternoon of Halloween fun, including a dog costume contest, festive treats and a Halloween pup parade against the backdrop of the rooftop bar.
The costume contest will kick off around 5:30 p.m., giving guests plenty of time to arrive, settle in and show off their pups’ Halloween looks before the parade. One lucky winner will receive a one-night stay at Margaritaville Hotel San Diego, plus a $50 dining credit, pending approval from the hotel team. The second-place winner will receive a gift basket from Kahoots Gaslamp. Guests arriving with pups dressed in their Halloween best can also receive fun dog-themed handouts, available while supplies last.
For the humans, the bar will offer its regular happy hour cocktail deals, plus one festive specialty cocktail created just for the occasion: The Black Bat, made with tequila, lime and black agave syrup. A playful bat- or dog-themed stir stick will add an extra Halloween touch to each cocktail.
Beyond the costumes, the regular Yappy Hour experience is designed with dogs in mind, featuring a menu of canine-friendly “barktails” and bites. Pups can cool down with a Pawgarita, a cucumber-and-ice blend, or a Pupa Colada made with coconut purée, while the food menu includes options like Canine Crudité, a Bark Burger made with a grilled beef patty and Paw-lickin’ Chicken.
With festive cocktails, costumed pups, a rooftop parade and plenty of photo-worthy moments, the Howl-O-Ween celebration offers a playful way for San Diego dog lovers to celebrate Halloween together.
