Do we truly see people as they are, or do we also see them through the lens of our own history?

Join psychotherapist and author Adrián Ávila, Ph.D., LMFT, for a presentation of Mirar: When Character Becomes Visible. A conversation about perception, character, art, and self-understanding that invites us to move from seeing, to looking, and ultimately to looking again. This conversation will take place in both English and Spanish.

Mirar: When Character Becomes Visible by Adrián Ávila, Ph.D., LMFT

What do we actually see when we look at another person? How much of what we believe we perceive truly belongs to the other person, and how much comes from our own history, expectations, and way of being in the world? Psychotherapist and author Adrián Ávila presents his book Mirar, a work that brings together psychology, clinical experience, art, and personal reflection to explore how character influences the way we perceive ourselves and others. Through images, examples, and observation exercises, the presentation invites the audience to move from simply seeing, to learning how to look, and ultimately to being willing to look again. No previous knowledge of psychology is required. The talk is intended for anyone interested in self-understanding, human relationships, psychotherapy, art, and personal growth.
