On Friday, October 30 at Normal Heights United, Songwriter Sanctuary San Diego will present a lineup of rising artists in the San Diego music scene to include: Ms. Connie, Sam Franz, and Deidre. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with featured music at 7 p.m., hosted by the organization’s President and curator Lindsay White.

ASL services will be provided for the indoor/feature event by Deaf Community Services of San Diego thanks to our sponsors, including a generous contribution from Ability Central.

Prior to the show: An unplugged “Pre-Show Pantry Jam” will take place on the sidewalk stage just outside the venue from 6-6:30 p.m. Guests are invited to contribute unopened/unexpired food or gently used clothing to NHU’s community pantry, fridge, and closet while enjoying entertainment from Espi Love, a Songwriter Sanctuary alumni artist, west coast regional slam champion, recent San Diego Pride Poet.

Ms. Connie

Ms. Connie is a bilingual singer-songwriter blending pop, Latin rhythms, acoustic sounds, and soulful storytelling into music that feels honest, free, and unapologetically human. Born in California, raised in Mexico City, and now based in San Diego, Ms. Connie brings both sides of her cultural identity into her music, moving naturally between English and Spanish and between vulnerability and strength. Her songs explore love, heartbreak, self-love, identity, freedom, and the courage to be yourself.

Ms. Connie was recently selected by the Old Globe to perform her original music in the local production of Broadway-bound musical "Begin Again." Earlier this year, she was also a featured artist on the song "SDFSHE," a single released through the San Diego FC Playmakers Music Collective. With collaborations across the arts scene and influences ranging from Latin music to folk, pop, and singer-songwriter traditions, she doesn’t believe in fitting into one box or one genre. Each song follows the emotion and tells its own story.

Sam Franz

Sam Franz is a singer-songwriter originally from San Jose, now calling San Diego home. A rising independent artist, Sam (along with cowriter Mary Matthew, who is unable to join us this month) crafts songs that explore heartbreak, friendship, and love. The two are set to release a new single called “The Villain” on October 29 in collaboration with American Idol alum Noel Tsoukalas.

DEIDRE

DEIDRE is a San Diego-based singer-songwriter blending folk and indie influences into introspective songs. Originally from Michigan, her storytelling captures the bittersweet details of everyday life. With lyrics that feel like being lost in thought in a crowded room, she invites listeners to reflect on their own experiences.
