Instructor Ahmad Khalid Rauofi
No experience necessary. Ages 16+ welcome! Afghani master wood carver Ahmad Khalid Rauofi will teach students how to craft their own carved wooden spoon. Open to all skill levels.
Some of the topics covered:
• choosing the appropriate tools for the project
• how to correctly and safely use the gouges and knives
• the process of creating and transferring your design to wood
• how to navigate grain direction
We will supply materials and carving tools, but if you have your own, please bring them. If you’d like to purchase or bring your own tools, the following tools are what the instructor recommends:
-1” #5 sweep gouge
-1.5” #3 sweep gouge
-1/2” #8 sweep gouge
-straight carving knife
-slightly curved carving knife
