The San Diego History Center presents "America 250: San Diego 1776–2026," a major new exhibition in the heart of Balboa Park. Created as part of the nationwide commemoration of America’s 250th anniversary, the exhibition explores San Diego’s history through 100 objects drawn from the History Center’s collections and exclusive private loans.
From Kumeyaay cultural materials and historic transportation artifacts to architectural models, artwork, clothing, and objects tied to social movements and the military, the exhibition traces the region’s evolution from a Spanish settlement to today’s vibrant binational community.
Developed in collaboration with history students from University of California San Diego and San Diego State University, the exhibition highlights fresh perspectives and original research that connect San Diego’s local stories to the broader American experience.
