Join Film Geeks SD this November under the stars as they celebrate NOIRVEMBER. Film Geeks will present four iconic film noir classics on Friday nights (November 8, 15, 22, 29). The films are generously provided by The Film Noir Foundation, dedicated to rescuing and restoring America’s Noir heritage, and Flicker Alley. Included with each Friday night ticket will be an intro by Alan K. Rode, director/treasurer of The Film Noir Foundation, plus theme swag and treats provided by Film Geeks.

"TOO LATE FOR TEARS"

Burns with heat and passion! The seductive and destructive femme fatale Lizabeth Scott and Arthur Kennedy play a married couple who get more than they bargained for when a bag with $60,000 is tossed into their car by a passing motorist. With Dan Duryea and Don De Fore.

When a pair of film noir icons like Lizabeth Scott and Dan Duryea collide, sparks are sure to fly. Jane Palmer (Scott) and her husband Alan (Arthur Kennedy) mysteriously have $60,000 literally dropped in their laps. The circumstances seem mighty suspicious to Alan, who wants to turn the money over to the police. But in a materialistic rapture, Jane won’t let it go. She doesn’t care where it came from, or what danger might ensue—not if it will bring her the luxury she craves.

"WOMAN ON THE RUN" (1950. 78 min.)

A lost gem rediscovered! Orson Welles protege Norman Foster directed this witty, wise-cracking take on the travails of romance and marriage. Join the wild chase around San Francisco as the sole witness to a gangland slaying goes into hiding, trailed by a police bird dog, a roguish newspaperman (Dennis O’Keefe) and the witness’s wife (Ann Sheridan).

A lost gem rediscovered! Thanks to the efforts of the Film Noir Foundation, this terrific 1950 film noir, the only American print of which was burned in a 2008 fire, has been rescued and restored to its original luster. Join the wild chase around San Francisco as a man goes into hiding after witnessing a gangland execution. Police bird-dog his wife Eleanor (Ann Sheridan), certain she’ll lead them to her husband, whose testimony against the killer could bring down a crime kingpin. But Eleanor and her hubbie are Splitsville—she never wants to see him again.

"EL VAMPIRO NEGRO" (1952. 90 min. )

An expressionistic nightmare! A proto-feminist reimagining of Fritz Lang’s “M”. A cabaret performer (Olga Zubarry) trys to protect her young daughter from a mysterious murderer while fending off the advances of the prosecutor pursuing the murderer.

A virtually unknown remake of M, Fritz Lang’s seminal 1931 thriller, El vampiro negro (The Black Vampire) is a revisionist take on the tale by Argentine director Román Viñoly Barreto. Thanks to the diligent efforts of the Film Noir Foundation, a stunning restoration of the film was created by UCLA Film & Television Archive, now presented in its first-ever home video release – with special thanks to Fernando Martín Peña and Argentina Sono Film.
