"Blue/Orange"
Written by Joe Penhall
Directed by Kian Kline Chilton

About the play:
Christopher has been confined to a psychiatric ward for a month. He wants out. The problem is he still thinks oranges are blue. His doctor convinced he needs help, wants to section him. The senior consultant thinks it’s all a question of culture: at home in Shepherd’s Bush Christopher will be amongst 'people who think just like him. And besides, it costs taxpayer money to keep Christopher in care.

Race, ethics, sanity and prejudice collide in Joe Penhall’s exquisitely sharp 'state of the nation' classic. Kian Kline Chilton directs this Olivier Award-winning play, as timely now as it ever was.

Blue/Orange is presented by Fenix Theatre Collaborative, performances will be held at the 10th Avenue Arts Center: 930 Tenth Ave, San Diego, CA 92101Blue/Orange is presented by special arrangement with Dramatist Play Services.

The Tenth Avenue Arts Center was established in 2007. With the help of Sledgehammer Theater and Eveoke Dance Company the first floor was transformed into a viable entertainment venue. The old sloped floor of the building’s sanctuary was changed to a level floor suitable for a wide variety of theatrical and dance productions. A versatile lighting grid was hung. All the necessary theatrical equipment was loaded in and the arts were thriving at 930 Tenth Avenue. Since then, The Tenth has continued to improve and prosper with remodeling and upgrading that allows the site to better serve the arts community. New bathrooms, an exterior paint job and a lobby and box office renovation were completed in 2008. In 2009, a new heating and air conditioning system was installed in the theater and walk up art studios were made available for local artists. From the staged productions in the first floor theater all the way up to the artistic endeavors of the resident artists on the third floor, the Tenth Avenue Arts Center strives to support the arts in San Diego. The Center is proud to be an affordable, vibrant haven for artists to develop, create and showcase their masterpieces. It is the artistic hub of the East Village and we welcome artists and their patrons to be a part of the celebration of the arts
