Award-winning Ovation Theatre proudly presents "Hadestown" opening August 7th in San Marcos. This intriguing and beautiful folk opera delivers a deeply resonant and defiantly hopeful theatrical experience. Following two intertwining love stories — that of young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice, and that of immortal King Hades and lady Persephone — "Hadestown" invites audiences on a hell-raising journey to the underworld and back. Inspired by traditions of classic American folk music and vintage New Orleans jazz, Anaïs Mitchell’s beguiling sung-through musical pits industry against nature, doubt against faith, and fear against love.
Content and Duration:
Ovation Theatre's production of "Hadestown" is the Teen Edition adapted specifically for teen actors and family audiences. Viewers should note that this production features some mature, emotional themes (poverty, grief, and authoritarian control) as well as specific sensory effects, including strobe-like lighting, loud sound effects, and haze. The show has a run time of 2 hours and 30 minutes including one intermission and is generally recommended for audiences age 10 and up.
Parking Information:
Parking is free for all Ovation Theatre audiences with no permit required. We recommend parking in Lots 1 & 2, at the main entrance of Palomar College. For people with accessibility needs, there are handicap parking spaces close to the theatre as well as a roundabout where people can be dropped off just outside the lobby.
