Sun & Sea Festival 2022

Imperial Beach’s Sun & Sea Festival is one of San Diego County’s most popular and fun events.

Our professional sandcastle building competition will feature top San Diego sculptors. These means that there will be fewer sandcastles to view this year as we work our way out of the pandemic.

The Kids-n-Kastles competition, for kids 10-years and under, will take place in the morning, thanks to sponsor Imperial Beach Optimist Club. Sign up early if you want to participate.

Schedule of Events:

Friday, July 15 at Portwood Pier Plaza, Imperial Beach
8 a.m. to 5 p.m. – Local sand-carving teams will start building on the sand close to the IB Pier.
Noon to Dusk Exhibition sandcastle on display
Mayor’s Breakfast at Veteran’s Park – for info and times contact https://www.imperialbeachca.gov/
6 p.m. – 10 p.m. – The Sandcastle Ball

Saturday, July 16 at Portwood Pier Plaza, Imperial Beach
8 a.m. to 4 p.m. – Exhibition sandcastle on display
8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Local teams will complete building on the sand close to the IB Pier.
10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Entertainment will take place on the Portwood Pier Plaza outdoor stage. Entertainment Lineup
2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sandcastle judging – This is the best time to view the sand sculptures
3:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Awards Ceremony at Pier Plaza

Dunes Park – Imperial Beach
9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Kids ‘n Kastles sandcastle building competition in Dunes Park

• No animals, however dogs on-leash are okay in festival area.
• No skateboards, no smoking and no alcohol will be allowed in the festival area or on the beach.
