San Diego Chief Operating Officer Resigns
Alison St John (Guest Host): When former San Diego mayor Dick Murphy resigned in 2005, under the heavy cloud of an undisclosed billion dollar pension deficit, Jerry Sanders went to the office of his colleague Ronne Froman (pictured) and asked her, "Are you going to run for mayor or am I?"
Froman, a former San Diego Navy mayor, reportedly answered, "You are." But she agreed to work with Sanders, becoming the city's chief operating officer, working mostly behind the scenes during a very difficult time at City Hall.
Now, after just 18 months, Froman has handed Sanders her letter of resignation.
