Passengers at San Diego's Lindberg Field experienced both short and long delays after Southwest Airlines grounded 38 of its airplanes. Reporter David Nogueras has more.
Southwest grounded the planes after an internal audit of it's safety procedures raised questions about the way the firm inspects the aircraft.
The airline's Linda Rutherford says that planes stayed on the ground so passengers would be protected.
Rutherford : Putting 38 airplanes out of service to be absolutely sure that we had inspected the aircraft skin in the right way is just further evidence that we put the safety of the traveling public and our own employees ahead of anything else.
Michelle Cross is traveling to Scottsdale with her two small children. Her plane was delayed for an hour-and-a-half.
Cross : I'm a paranoid flyer anyways so somebody better give me a Xanax or something because this makes me very uncomfortable.
Southwest canceled 126 flights.
