Five fire departments in San Diego and Riverside Counties have some new gear to help fight fires.
California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and fire officials showed off five new engines Tuesday in San Diego.
The equipment comes from the state Office of Emergency Services.
San Diego Fire Chief Tracy Jarman says adding more equipment boosts protection.
Jarman: These engines are state of the art apparatus specifically designed to fight wildfires which are some of the most difficult fires that we face.
The engines have been assigned to the San Diego, Escondido, Oceanside, Murrieta and Riverside Fire Departments.
Additional engines are expected to be delivered to Los Angeles County and Northern California in coming weeks.
