A 1,200-acre fire that began during a training exercise on the Camp Pendleton Marine base is about 95 percent contained.
Marine spokesman Lt. Ryan Welsh says the fire appears to be no longer expanding and firefighters were monitoring any remaining activity.
The fire began Friday in an area often used for artillery training. The blaze had moved rapidly toward an area where the Southern California base borders the Cleveland National Forest.
There have been no reports of injuries or damages to structures.
