REDDING, Calif. (AP) — Fire crews have increased containment of a wildfire that destroyed nearly 70 homes in rural Northern California.
Officials say the Clover Fire in Shasta County was 80 percent contained Friday morning. There was no change in the tally of homes destroyed.
That number nearly doubled Thursday to 68, as crews got a better assessment of damaged areas.
One person has been found dead in the fire's perimeter.
Road closures that were preventing some residents from returning home were lifted Thursday. Other evacuations remain in place.
The fire has burned 12.5 square miles. Full containment is expected by Sunday.
