Two Mexican citizens who illegally entered the country on jet skis were arrested early Friday at the south end of Silver Strand State Beach.
Border Patrol agents and the U.S. Coast Guard were notified around 5 a.m. that the man and woman had crossed into U.S. waters, and contacted them as they were emerging from the surf, according to a Border Patrol statement.
After the pair was taken to a Border Patrol station, agents discovered that the man had an outstanding warrant out of San Diego County for possession with intent to distribute marijuana. Both suspects were also facing a federal charge of illegal entry.
Neither suspect's name was released.
