A play at the San Diego Repertory Theatre tells the story of Gordon Hirabayashi, an American citizen of Japanese descent who refused to enter an internment camp during World War II — firm in the belief that his rights as a citizen should be protected.

"Hold These Truths" runs through December 8 at the Rep’s Lyceum Space.

Playwright Jeanne Sakata and actor Ryun Yu, who plays Hirabayashi and 37 other characters in the one-man play, joined Midday Edition on Monday to discuss why they believe the play is more relevant now than when it was first performed in 2007.
