AUSTIN CITY LIMITS continues its longstanding tradition of showcasing the best of original American music. Musical styles range from contemporary and traditional pop to rock, country, blues, bluegrass, Latin, folk, roots and more. All find a home on the AUSTIN CITY LIMITS stage. Recipient of a Peabody Award for 37 years of excellence.

"Randy Newman" - With songs that run the gamut from heartbreaking to satirical and a host of unforgettable film scores, Randy Newman has used his many talents to create musical masterpieces widely recognized by generations of audiences. This special solo performance was his AUSTIN CITY LIMITS debut and originally aired on November 12, 2011.

The episode song list includes: "Dixie Flyer," "Mama Told Me Not to Come," "Laugh and Be Happy," "Losing You," "Birmingham," "Short People," "Harps and Angels," "I Love to See You Smile," "You've Got a Friend in Me," "Bad News From Home," "You Can Leave Your Hat On," "I Love L.A.," "Guilty," "Sail Away," "Political Science," "Louisiana 1927" and "Feels Like Home."

In early 2011 he released "The Randy Newman Songbook Vol. 2," which is the second in a series of new solo piano/vocal recordings of his songs spanning his five-decades. Upon its release, Time Out New York said, “The Songbook records strip away the orchestrations of his regular albums, leaving Newman alone at the piano, singing…three-minute masterpieces from throughout a half-century career.”
