Federal authorities are staying quiet about the killing of a U.S. Border Patrol agent Tuesday night. Meanwhile, Homeland Security officials have arrived in southern Arizona but won't publicly address the agent's murder.
TUCSON, ARIZ. The president of the Border Patrol Tucson Sector's union says he is disappointed that Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano is in Tucson but won't speak publicly about the agent's killing.
"Actually, it's very disappointing. It's very disappointing. Not only is Janet Napolitano in the Tucson Sector today but Commissioner Alan Bersin is also in the Tucson Sector," said Brandon Judd, who worked with the murdered agent when they were both stationed in Naco. "In fact, as we speak, he's addressing a muster in Casa Grande."
Agent Brian Terry, a tactical operations agent in the Border Patrol was killed in a gunfight late Tuesday night near Nogales. His team of four had encountered a group of border bandits in a canyon about 15 miles north of the border.
The FBI, which is in charge of the investigation, says it has no new information about the investigation.
