The San Diego International Auto Show is rolling into town this week. Starting Wednesday, hundreds of the newest cars, trucks, SUVs and electric vehicles will be on display at the San Diego Convention Center.

The auto show's Richard Newendyke said over half of the people attending the show say they plan to buy a car within a year.

"It's a great place to shop for a car because no one is going to try and sell you today," he said. "You come down, you get the information, you compare the models you like. ⁠And we have over 100 cars you can drive. You can take your family out, drive the car you're thinking about buying for the family and then come back in and do more research."

Newendyke said the auto show is one of the largest in the nation. More than 400 cars are taking over half a million square feet inside the convention center. Attendees will see some of the newest models and concepts as well as high-end luxury cars.

San Diego Auto Show Brings All Types Of Cars

"We have cars from Herbie the Love Bug down on one end to exotic vaults with Rolls-Royces, Lamborghinis, Ferraris in it, then we have the everyday cars you see everyday. So we've got something foe everyone, over 25 manufacturers are here on site."

Most models at the show are on sale currently or about to go on sale. The event is put on by the New Car Dealers Association of San Diego County.

SDG&E is sponsoring electric vehicle day at the auto show on Thursday. Admission is $15 for adults and it runs through Sunday.

Plus, Medi-Cal expands health coverage for young adults who can't prove legal assistance and the International Auto Show returns to San Diego and the San Diego Zoo announces the death of an elephant named Tembo.
