New Creatures At Chula Vista's Living Coast Discovery Center

New Creatures At Living Coast Discovery Center Chula Vista

Our Wild San Diego

KPBS Evening Edition Anchor Dwane Brown shows off a few sea creatures, including Sapphire, a Loggerhead sea turtle, and Howie, a giant octopus, in another edition of "Our Wild San Diego."

In his series "Our Wild San Diego," KPBS anchor Dwane Brown takes you to places in San Diego County to discover the animals and plants that live here. He explores everything from sea creatures to birds to reptiles and shows the habitats where they live. Along the way, you meet the people working to protect our local environment.

Sapphire, a 130-pound Loggerhead sea turtle, is the newest ambassador at the Living Coast Discovery Center in Chula Vista.

She will play an important role in helping to raise awareness about a threat to endangered sea turtles: boat strikes.
