San Diego leaders honored hundreds of city volunteers Tuesday as part of National Volunteer Recognition Week.
They were volunteered during a recognition fair at Spreckles Organ Pavilion in Balboa Park. The event also gave the public a chance to learn about volunteer openings.
San Diego Police Department Officer Mark Jones attended the fair to honor the work of volunteers.
"We wouldn't be able to do what we do without their help,” Jones said. “It's just incredible the number of hours that they put in, and they enjoy it, just as much as we do having them around.”
Volunteer program coordinator Kristina Fraijo matches volunteers with the right opportunities in San Diego.
"I just want to remind everybody to take that moment if they have any volunteers that help them at their school or wherever they are — just thank them today,” Fraijo said.
