Baquba Residents Displaced by Insurgents

U.S. troops Baquba, Iraq, are trying to flush out insurgents believed to be part of al-Qaida in Mesopotamia. The troops have cordoned off part of the city in order to trap the insurgents; they're moving methodically from house to house and finding roadside bombs as well as whole houses wired as bombs.

Michael Gordon of The New York Times, who is embedded with the 1st Batallion, 23rd Infantry Regiment, says residents resent the insurgents, who have imposed a strict Islamic creed and commandeered their homes.
