Former U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. John Bolton talks about the National Intelligence Estimate on Iran, which was released this week.
The report's primary conclusion — that Iran halted a secret nuclear weapons program four years ago — appears to raise barriers to the use of military force against Iran and raise questions about whether economic sanctions are even justified.
President Bush said he is sticking with his approach of sanctions and international pressure.
Bolton, who was also a former undersecretary of state for Arms Control and International Security, takes issue with the NIE's conclusions and says it reflects political bias.
Bolton is now a senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute for Public Policy Research, a not-for-profit institution dedicated to research and education on issues of government, politics, economics, and social welfare.
