Census Caravan Hits The Streets In San Diego County, As Deadline Looms
The U.S. Census count is nearing its final weeks, and there are a number of efforts underway to reach San Diegans who haven’t yet responded.
On Friday, the United Way organized a car caravan through San Diego County to increase participation in historically hard to count communities.
Outreach workers are concerned the Census Bureau’s decision to move up the deadline may lead to an undercount. And, a new report out Friday warns of a census worker shortage.
Michele Silverthorn, with the Count Me 2020 Coalition and the United Way of San Diego County, joined Midday Edition on Friday to discuss how the count is going so far in the region and how San Diegans can participate in the census.
