Doctors are treating Petty Officer 2nd Class Nicholas Hamilton this morning at San Diego Naval Medical Center, after a family friend found him disoriented in La Mesa, according to NBC San Diego.
Home Post blogged last week that Hamilton's wife Amanda reported him missing when he disappeared after briefly speaking with her by pay phone on Tuesday. Amanda was frantic with worry because her husband suffers from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) after serving ten years in the Navy. He was a crew member on the USS Ronald Reagan, and had attempted suicide after helping provide humanitarian relief to survivors of the March 11 earthquake and tsunami in Japan.
NBC San Diego reports Amanda Hamilton had organized a search party Saturday and the group was returning from passing out fliers when family friend Casey Withers spotted Nicholas Hamilton outside the La Mesa apartment complex where they'd arrived. Withers told NBC San Diego:
Withers said Hamilton told him he'd been living under a bridge since his wife reported him missing.
