Sgt. James Hackemer survived a roadside bomb blast in Iraq that took both his legs, only to die when he was thrown from a roller coaster in Western New York. Today he was laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery.
Sgt. Hackemer died on July 8 when he was thrown from the Ride of Steel coaster at Darien Lake Theme Park, according to the Wall Street Journal. The 29-year-old was a father to two children.
Western New York television station WIVB-TV reports about 150 mourners attended Hackemer's service today at Arlington National Cemetery.
