Wreckage from Navy Jet Crash

The Navy has found the flight recorder from the wreckage of a F/A-18D jet that crashed into a Virginia Beach apartment complex on Friday.

According to the Department of Defense, Navy investigators recovered the jet's Crash Survivable Flight Incident Recorder on Monday. That recorder will be analyzed by experts at Naval Air Station Patuxent River in Maryland to try and determine what cause the jet to crash shortly after take-off from Naval Air Station Oceana near Virginia Beach.

According to the Chicago Tribune:

The Crash Survivable Flight Incident Recorder on the fighter jet is similar to a flight data recorder on a commercial airliner. It records flight cautions, advisories and other data. However, it does not include cockpit voice communications.
