KPBS reporter Amy Isackson visited some polling places in Chula Vista to get voter reactions to this historic election.

The interviewees

Karla Ramirez lives in Chula Vista. She's a graduate student at San Diego State and works as an administrative assistant. She raced to her polling place on Liberty Creek Place to vote before school.

Dina Barron Ramirez hosted a polling place in her garage for the first time this election. She says it is a historic election and she wanted to participate by doing something more than voting. Barron Rmairez moved from Tijuana to Chula Vista 19 years ago. She's a criminal investigator with San Diego County Public Defender's. 

Deborah Wyman was out to vote early this morning at her polling place in Chula Vista. She says she always votes, because if you don't, you can't complain.

This was Hido Vera's first time voting. He's 20 and moved from Tijuana to Chula Vista eight years ago. He says he and his friends felt like Barak Obama made a special effort to reach out to the youth vote. He says whenever they'd go out to party or hang out, they'd see Obama stickers, t-shirts or something related to the candidate.
