Brown's Finance Director Resigning
Governor Jerry Brown’s budget guru is resigning after more than three years as head of California’s Finance Department.
There's nothing like leaving when you're on top. After several rocky economic years, Finance Director Ana Matosantos oversaw a budget process this year that ended in a balanced financial plan. She'll be stepping down in September. She will be replaced by Chief Deputy Budget Director Michal Cohen.
Matosantos was first appointed Finance Director by then Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in December 2009. Governor Jerry Brown kept her on in that position when he took office. Brown said Matosantos carried out her duties with energy, insight and uncommon effectiveness. She has not said what she will do next.
