The public is invited to a workshop Wednesday on the future of the proposed One Paseo development in Carmel Valley.
The mixed-use development was given a go-ahead earlier this year by the City Council, but opponents collected enough signatures to force the approval to be rescinded.
The workshop scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday at the San Diego Marriott Del Mar is being hosted by the Carmel Valley Community Planning Board.
The developer, Kilroy Realty, originally planned to put offices, shops, restaurants and more than 600 housing units onto an empty 23.6-acre lot south of Del Mar Heights Road, between El Camino Real and High Bluff Drive.
Opponents contended the project's high density would worsen traffic in an area already congested by traffic. They submitted more than 60,000 petition signatures to the city to stop the project.
At a meeting where the council members were to decide whether to rescind its approval or put the issue before voters, Kilroy and opposition leaders announced a deal that sent the developer back to the drawing board. The council repealed its prior approval as a formality.
