Hawthorne Country Store hosts its annual spring Chick Day on Saturday, March 9 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Escondido, Fallbrook, and Santee. This complimentary annual celebration will host more than 100 varieties of baby poultry; the event is a great way to learn about raising your own personal backyard flock!

On Instagram, she is the host of the annual #APIBookstagramTour, helped organize the #StandUpForAAPI campaign in 2021, and her account @booknerdkat been featured in @buzzfeedbooks. Kat is an avid book reviewer, supporter of the public library and independent bookstores, and enjoys promoting books --especially works from BIPOC authors. A New York judge agreed to delay the sentencing of former President Donald Trump in a criminal hush money case.

Professor Brian Matthew Jordan will discuss his book, “Marching Home: Union Veterans and Their Unending Civil War,” a groundbreaking investigation into the fate of Union veterans who won the war but couldn’t bear the peace. Professor Jordan is an associate professor of history and chair of the History Department at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas. He earned his Ph.D. at Yale University under the tutelage of David Blight, Ph.D.
