The event will begin with a traditional Kumeyaay Smudge Ceremony where Elders and Bird Singers will bless the area, followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony to open Ocean Alley and Kumeyaay Way. On Kumeyaay Way, you will have the opportunity to build and launch tule boats with Stan Rodriguez, our Keynote Speaker and President of the Kumeyaay Community College, and learn about traditional crafts and customs. At noon, Kevin Robinson, one of SeaWorld’s Trainers who helped nurse J.J. the Orphaned Baby Gray Whale back to health, will join us to thank the generous Donors who made J.J.’s new Shade Sail possible. Next, Dave Scott (KUSI Meteorologist, Retired), will Emcee a short program that will conclude with the much-anticipated unveiling of the bronze sculpture, “From the HEIGHTS of Mt. Soledad to the DEPTHS of the Grand Canyons of La Jolla, a project Walter Munk believed was critical to the understanding of what lies offshore. Meet the Artist, Carl Glowienke, our generous Donors, and the many experts who graciously gave of their time and talent to make this project a reality! Embark on a journey of unity with the San Diego Master Chorale as we celebrate diverse cultures and life experiences through choral music. Drawing inspiration from composers like Jennifer Lucy Cook and Jocelyn Hagen, we explore the path of inter-religious harmony and the richness of different traditions. Featured works by California-based composers Saunder Choi, Shawn Kirchner, R. Matthew Brown, and Zanaida Robles augment this rich tapestry of human connection. A musical created for and by San Diego's South Bay is ready to bring the swap meet to the stage. "Pásale Pásale" is a hyperlocal production that focuses on the resilience of the Latinx community.

The Comic-Con Art Show is open to the public... you do not need a badge to come in and enjoy, or purchase artwork. However, everyone entering the Art Show is expected to comply with all Terms and Conditions expected of our attendees. You’ll see numerous original drawings, paintings, sculptures, pieces of jewelry, and more “unusual” items, all created and displayed by professional and amateur artists. If you want to add something to your collection, many of the pieces are offered for purchase by Silent Auction* or Quick-Sale. Bidder numbers and Art Show information can be obtained from the administration table inside the Art Show. You must be 18 or older and have legal identification to purchase artwork, and payments may be made with cash or a credit card. The Art Show also displays the nominated books and comics for this year’s Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards. Come and see the best new works of the year! For your convenience, the Art Show is open one hour after the Exhibit Floor closes on Thursday, Friday, and Sunday to make it easier to bid on or pick up your art.
