The improv and comedy organization that famously shuns New York City has just opened in Brooklyn — with a 200-seat mainstage, a 60-seat second stage, classrooms and a restaurant.

Adena Varner will assume the role of director of arts engagement in August.

Sew Loka's 10 Year Anniversary Event "Community Over Competition" is happening on Saturday, March 25 from Noon to 9 p.m. inside the Sew Loka sewing studio. The event will include a Community Art Show curated by Studio IX @thisgirlhugstress @_eyegato_, live DJs, live painting, live screen printing, live Skills Pay Bills podcast, artisan and food vendors, and a new mural unveiling by local artist, Julia Martinez. This is the first time we will be using the large parking lot behind our shop to host an event!

We will be participating in La Jolla’s monthly art walk and will have a variety of artwork and Judaica available for purchase. The topic of the Art Walk at our gallery will be love. From the organizers: Electrification, Equity, & Efficiency invites conversation, interaction and education around local electrification and energy efficiency. The project includes a gallery installation and a series of events and lectures to jumpstart our community through what we hope will be a just transition.
