On National Chocolate Day, learn how to make and decorate chocolates from premier chocolatier, Jim Lantry of Seabreeze Craft Chocolates. San Diego’s own Willy Wonka is offering celebratory Chocolate Truffle Making classes on Saturday, October 28. Chocolate lovers will learn how to create decadent chocolate truffles in the hands-on class. The class covers every step of the time-honored process from making and flavoring ganache, decorating the molds, crafting and filling chocolate shells, capping the truffles with chocolate, and tapping into artistic talents to decorate the truffles. The best part is taking home ganache and 21 truffles to eat all by yourself or share with friends. All materials including a gift box for the 21 chocolate truffles and a container for the remaining ganache are included. The adult classes are scheduled for 3:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and are limited to 15 guests per class. Miracle Babies, a nonprofit organization whose mission is dedicated to helping perinatal mothers and their families during their time of need by providing transportation, mental health assistance and supportive services, will be hosting its next diaper distribution on Saturday, December 9, from 10 a.m. to Noon, at the Jack in the Box Corporate Office in Kearney Mesa (9357 Spectrum Center Blvd., San Diego, 92123). Registered guests will be able to attend the free diaper distribution from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and it will be open to the public from 11:30 a.m. to Noon. Over 350 local families are anticipated to attend. Registration is open through Friday, December 8 at Noon or until supplies last. Recently, Miracle Babies has received a generous donation of 200 new Jive 2-in-1 convertible car seats from Baby2Baby, a nonprofit organization that provides children living in poverty with diapers, clothing and all the necessities that every child deserves. Miracle Babies is working with hospitals and social workers to identify NICU families making less than 80k per year who will receive these car seats at the distribution. The American Medical Response (AMR) will provide free car seat safety inspections on a limited basis. Families in need of products should register online at the Miracles Babies website to ensure availability of diaper sizes. Diaper donations and volunteers are welcome and accepted at all distributions. Treat Them R+ght Animal Rescue is a family operated animal rescue and sanctuary that is dedicated to the betterment of animal welfare. They are located in Lakeside and care for a wide range of homeless and neglected animals; including horses, dogs, pigs, goats and much more. You can enjoy cold beers and cocktails from The Ould Sod while listening to three amazing musicians/bands. The afternoon will start with Cruz Roots and their cool reggae vibes and killer energy. Our second musician, Boy Named Soo, will blow you away with his powerful voice and unique style. Our entertainment will conclude with the incredible vocals and acoustic guitars of Shoeless.
