Return to a time 50 years ago when Liz and Dick rocked, and Christopher Plummer ruled the stage. In an acting career highlighted by roles on television and film, Sutorius always returns to Shakespeare for sustenance. So he will again, in the delightful My Life with Will. Join Alliant International University for a training webinar in partnership with the Bertelsmann Health and Well-being Working Group where Dr. Denise Lopez and Dr. Kasia Fuiks, will explore the causes and consequences of workplace stress and illustrate different approaches to reduce stress and promote well-being. The webinar will describe four levels of workplace resources (namely leadership, social, team, and organizational resources) that contribute to employee well-being. It will provide empirically-supported and practical interventions that leaders and organizations can utilize as well as individual actions that will promote recovery from work, reduce stress, and increase well-being at work. Dr. Denise Lopez is A Full Professor of Organizational Psychology at the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University, Los Angeles campus. Her teaching and research interests are on leadership, employee engagement and well-being, organizational change and development, and diversity, inclusion and globalization issues in the workplace. Dr. Kasia Fuiks is an Assistant Professor and Program Director of Organizational Psychology Programs at the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University. Her research interest focuses on burnout, leadership, and cross-cultural issues in organizational contexts.

Culinary Historians of San Diego will present “The Lost Cuisines of California,” featuring Richard Foss, at 10:30 am February 19, at the San Diego Central Library, 330 Park Blvd. Foss will address the question of why none of the cooking techniques or popular dishes of the first people of the California or Mission people survive, and how did the introduction of agriculture change their lives? What delicacies did the pleasure-loving Dons enjoy in their haciendas, and why did their cuisine die out so quickly after the USA annexed the territory? Richard Foss has been writing professionally since 1986, when he started reviewing restaurants for a Los Angeles newspaper. He has contributed to more than forty different publications, taught “500 Years of American Food” and “America Fermented” at Osher Institute/UCLA Extension, and is on the board of Culinary Historians of Southern California. His book on the history of rum was published in 2012. “Food in the Air and Space” was released in December 2014. He is now working on a history of immigrant cuisines in California in conjunction with a museum exhibit he is curated titled “Cooking Up a New West,” which will open at he Autry Museum of the American West in 2023.

San Diego Italian Film Festival presents: The Traitor (Il traditore) - Marco Bellocchio, 2019 The Traitor tells the true story of Tommaso Buscetta, the man who brought down the Cosa Nostra, one of Italy’s notorious mafia organizations. In the early 1980s, as all-out war rages between mafia bosses over the heroin trade, Buscetta, a “made man” flees to hide out in Brazil. After being arrested and extradited to Italy by the Brazilian police, Buscetta makes a decision that will change everything for the mafia in Italy - he decides to meet with Judge Giovanni Falcone and betray the eternal vow he made to the Cosa Nostra.
