A truly All-Artisan fair, where all the works are hand-crafted and sold by the artists and crafters themselves. Outside wine bars, a food court and over 85 Hand-picked vendors from across Southern California, with everything from handmade jewelry, soaps, paintings and sculpture, local honey, clothing, pottery, items for the home and garden and much more! Admission is free. Families welcome! No pets are permitted on winery grounds (no exceptions) except for service dogs that are trained to aid a disabled person. Bringing cash as well as cards is recommended as some vendors only accept cash. There is no ATM at the winery. No outside food and beverage.

“Hollywoodland” pays homage to the undeniable influence of Hollywood on culture and music. This program traces the influence of the “Hollywood” sound on Rachmaninoff’s iconic Symphonic Dances, the jazz obsession of Russian composer Nikolai Kapustin, the romantic minimalism of Polina Nazaykinskaya’s cinematic “Nostalgia,” and the Oscar-nominated score by Hans Zimmer, The Interstellar. These diverse composers have in common the influence of the uniquely American art forms of jazz and minimalism, while their musical narratives are guided by principles of motion picture storytelling. The show will be narrated by Jacopo and Konstantin with a moderated Q&A at the end. This event is canceled In this in-person class held on MOXIE’s stage, young women+ in grades 6th through 12th will learn foundational storytelling skills, culminating in their ten-minute play written over the course of a week. Students will learn about the creative process and the art of critical feedback as they share their original works with each other. MOXIE’s mission is to create more diverse and honest images of women+ for our culture using the art of theatre. Students will learn to value their own voices and develop their creative problem-solving skills and a healthy perspective on gender representation in the media. Open to young women+ in grades 6th through 12th. Participants will be split up into morning and afternoon sessions (9 a.m. to 12 p.m. for 6-8th & 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. for 8-12th). Working with the sculptures as a backdrop, the actors will perform poetry and the spookiest selections from Shakespeare's greats, like "Macbeth," "Othello" and "The Tempest." A nonprofit community organization Wednesday criticized the San Diego City Council's passage of an ordinance that will prohibit tent encampments in all public spaces throughout the city if shelter beds are available.

Band leader and beloved piano player for many years in San Diego, Sue is known as the Queen of Boogie Woogie and always manages to entertain with fun and flair. She has won many San Diego Music Awards, with various bands, and toured the world with the late blues artist Candye Kane, for 8 years. In 2008 her album "Sophisticated Ladies" won the International Blues Challenge in Memphis for Best (unsigned) CD. The City of San Diego named a day after her, also in 2008. Vocalist Liz Ajuzie is a jazz and blues singer and is a big fan of 40s jazz. A first generation American, her Nigerian parents introduced her to the music of Nat King Cole, as well as her African roots, and now she is exploring the early R&B music of the 50s and 60s with enthusiasm. Liz draws inspiration from many artists, including Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Judy Garland, Dinah Washington, Mae West, Lavern Baker, and Ruth Brown. Free concerts at noon every Monday from fall through spring . . . no wonder the Mini-Concerts are the longest-running and one of the most popular classical music series at the library! This series was founded by Glenna Hazleton in 1970 at the Athenaeum, and has been going strong ever since. The concerts feature both local and touring musicians, prize-winning students, university music faculty members, local chamber ensembles. . . and the repertoire also includes jazz, folk and world music. There are no reservations, no tickets . . . just line up at the side door of the Athenaeum before noon. (Donations are always welcome!) Mini-Concerts take place every Monday at noon and last about an hour. The concerts will be in person at the Athenaeum Music & Arts Library. There are no physical tickets for these events. Doors open at 11:50 a.m. Seating is first-come; first-served. These events will be presented in compliance with State of California and County of San Diego health regulations as applicable at the time of each concert. Masks optional.
