Shelter to Soldier, a nonprofit organization that adopts dogs from local shelters and trains them to become service dogs for post 9/11 veterans suffering from invisible wounds, will host their 13th Annual ‘Be the Light’ Gala presented by SDBotox on August 24 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at L'Auberge Del Mar (1540 Camino Del Mar, Del Mar, CA). The event will raise critical funds for Shelter to Soldier's programs serving our nation's brave veterans and homeless dogs in need of a forever home and life of purpose. We'll ask presenters all about their jobs: how did they know they wanted to go into this field? What education and training did they need to get their job? What does a typical day, week, or month look like? What are their favorite and least favorite things about their job? Prost, San Diego! The 9th Annual East Village Oktoberfest returns to Quartyard on Saturday, September 20 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., bringing Munich vibes with a SoCal twist. Co-hosted by Quartyard and the East Village Association, the one-day event will feature craft beer, festive bites, live music, and games in a lively seated beer hall atmosphere. Expect Bavarian classics like pretzels and sausages alongside El Comal’s Mexican flavors, plus a lineup of live Polka music, tribute bands, and high-energy performances. Adding to the excitement, attendees can compete in lively Oktoberfest-themed games and competitions, hosted by local favorite SDHosted.
