  • Artist and oil painter, Elena Karavodin is proud to present two solo exhibitions of her artwork featuring figurative oil paintings. Both shows are rooted and inspired by her own personal experiences as an adolescent, woman, and mother. Originally, titled “Now or Never” the exhibition is now divided into two separate bodies of work, “Now” and “Never", simultaneously exhibiting in separate spaces. “Now” is her first hometown solo exhibition, at the Encinitas Community Center. Before opening to the public, the City of Encinitas cited 11 separate artworks for obscenity and removed them from the show indefinitely. On account of the imposed removal of art, Elena has produced a second exhibition titled “Never”, featuring all the original banned paintings that were removed due to censorship, currently on view at ArtHatch in Escondido, Calif. About the Artist: Elena Karavodin’s artwork features figurative studies of women. She draws from inspirations and absurdities observed from human nature, the feminine experience and random situations that we find ourselves in. Elena was born in Los Angeles and raised in Encinitas, Calif. She studied classical art and illustration at Laguna College of Art and Design. Her preferred medium is traditional oil painting focusing on human subjects. Creating art for over 20 years, her work has been shown in various exhibitions throughout the United States. Elena lives in San Diego with her husband and young son, who’s daily discoveries and growth inspire her to push her creative process even further. Please join Elena Karavodin on Saturday, July 10, 2021 from 6-10 p.m. at ArtHatch, Escondido, CA for a free reception of her uncensored art, “Never”. The reception will include a meet and greet with the artist, music, snacks and drinks. Also, make sure to take time to view all the art within the building and front gallery featuring local artists.
