Explore ceramic handbuilding & funky glazes! Mondays, June 9, 16, 23, 30, July 14 From 6 p.m. - 8:30 p.m., with the last class of the series from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. In this 5-week series, students will learn the basics of handbuilding to create functional pieces with an emphasis on decorative techniques. Working with mid fire clay, we will explore various methods of building forms and decorative techniques with underglazes, slips, glaze, and various experimental materials. Students will complete multiple projects throughout the course with an artistic and creative approach to decorative designs. Inspired by printmaking, painting and drawing, we will explore image transfers, mark making, layering, stencils, and more! Through the use of technique and materials, students will explore the fusion of 2D art and 3D form. Students will be able to utilize a wide array of glazes and colors through the course. The instructor will have a wide array of custom decorative materials for use and sale. All materials provided. Additional materials available via the instructor for a fee. Join the families of Para Las Familias, ECS' bilingual and bicultural behavioral health clinic, for an afternoon of activities and fun as they celebrate the back-to-school season! There will be free food, free school supplies, fun activities, a raffle, resources, and more! We will be giving out *100 backpacks at the event. These stories may have you on the edge of your seat in suspense, drifting off to the sound of the words, or full in your feelings. So sit back and relax while we read to you, with a brief intermission, and then finish off with an engaging discussion. This month we are reading a short story from Paul Theroux's book of short stories The Vanishing Point. These short stories will be relatable for everyone as we all experience those moments in life where change is inevitable. Come join us Tuesday night to find out what the 2nd story will be!
