Nestled under the umbrella of the North County LGBTQ Resource Center, Pride by the Beach is a program that will shelter you from any storm. Our mission is to serve, empower and advocate for San Diego North County's diverse LGBTQI+ community. We have worked tirelessly for more than 10 years to accomplish this goal. The lifesaving services and programs we’ve created have helped thousands of LGBTQI+ people. We are extremely proud that since the beginning of the COVID-19 global pandemic, Pride by the Beach has never closed its doors, and has in fact, increased its services to the community. Our reach extends to over 13 cities in the North San Diego region, as well as Camp Pendleton. Some of the programs we have to offer include mental health resources, support groups for our transgender friends, HIV prevention and care, and transitional housing for youth at risk for homelessness. Join the San Diego World Affairs Council for a special event featuring opening remarks from Ambassador Marc Knapper (Vietnam) and Ambassador Brian McFeeters (ret., Malaysia) as part of the US-ASEAN Business Council’s Ambassadors’ Tour. They will share timely insights on the evolving U.S.-ASEAN relationship and regional developments. The program will also feature a keynote address by UCSD Professor David G. Victor, who will examine the long-term global implications of recent shifts in U.S. climate policy under the Trump administration. A thought-provoking evening of diplomacy, policy, and dialogue. These are truly turbulent times…on an historic scale. Huge policy changes regarding US decarbonization, green energy investment, and global warming/climate research are being largely eclipsed in the media by tariff news and the geopolitical transformation of the global order being driven by the Trump 2.0 White House. Nevertheless, Trump 2.0 environmental policy changes are likely to be consequential – for the US and the planet. Those changes may also come to have geopolitical implications. New global leadership may emerge. Furthermore, some Trump 2.0 shifts seem likely to find ready audiences in other parts of the world. Drawing on his deep experience and awareness, David G. Victor will discuss the impacts and consequences of US policy changes toward global warming and decarbonization. Beyond discussing the impact of the of the first five months of Trump 2.0, David will step back and take the long view…across the arc of a decade or two – or three. What has happened…and where do we go from here? What will be the impact of the Trump tariffs? Will geo-engineering emerge as a tool for addressing climate change? Join us for a special concert celebrating the release of Clinton Davis’ second full-length album, “Ever Returning.” Clinton Davis is an old time folk multi-instrumentalist currently based in San Diego. A fifth-generation Kentuckian, Davis grew up in rural Carroll County. His guitar work has earned the praise of Stefan Grossman, who called him “a master…carrying on the traditional music torch of Mike Seeger.” Deering Banjos has called his playing on their instruments “simply sublime.” Joined by fellow multi-instrumentalist Tim McNalley and Ryan Finch, the Clinton Davis Stringband bring a high level of musicianship and artistry to their performances that have made them a perennial favorite on the West Coast. Together, they explore America’s musical past with interpretations that are novel but faithful to tradition. Downtown Skate, San Diego’s favorite outdoor roller rink, is making its return to the Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina for a limited time, June 27 - July 9. Following its successful holiday debut, the rink will once again take over the scenic Marina Terrace. The 6,000-square-foot rink offers a one-of-a-kind opportunity to skate beneath swaying palm trees with sweeping views of the sparkling San Diego Bay. Politifest 2025 is scheduled for Saturday, October 4, 2025, at the University of San Diego’s Joan B. Kroc School of Peace Studies. This annual public affairs summit, organized by Voice of San Diego, focuses on pressing local and national issues through debates, panels, and interviews with experts. This summer’s concert, “Blendo Music,” will feature their foundational devotion to straight ahead jazz, but also incorporating folk music, the Brazilian samba, The Beatles, Jimmy Webb, calypso and the blues. Enjoy the energizing sounds of multi-colored jazz powered by some spirited musos having the time of their lives. Proceeds from this event benefit the Garden’s science, conservation, and education programs. All ticket sales are final after June 19. This seated concert takes place in the outdoor amphitheater. North City invites families and friends to dive into a free outdoor screening of Disney’s "Finding Nemo" on Friday, July 18. Starting at 5 p.m., movie lovers can enjoy games, hands-on activities, and character meet-and-greets before Nemo, Marlin, and Dory swim across the big screen at 6:30 p.m. Guests will receive complimentary popcorn and can purchase an array of bites from North City’s eateries, including newly opened A Lo Fresco, serving internationally inspired bowls and wraps; Buona Forchetta, preparing fresh pizza onsite from its mobile pizzeria truck; Wynston’s Ice Cream, featuring themed flavors; Maya’s Cookies, offering cookie decorating kits; Milonga Empanadas, grilling choripán sandwiches with Argentine chorizo and chimichurri; and Draft Republic, pouring beer, wine, and cocktails for adults. The Spreckels Organ Society presents the 37th Annual San Diego International Summer Organ Festival, the largest organ festival in the United States, featuring the Spreckels Organ, the largest open-air musical instrument in the world! The summer-long festival – directed by Raúl Prieto Ramírez, Spreckels Organ Society’s Artistic Director and San Diego’s Civic Organist – takes place in the heart of Balboa Park, from July 7 through Sept. 1. The Society brings these special 90-minute concerts to the Spreckels Organ Pavilion for free each Monday evening at 7:30 p.m. This season’s line-up includes acclaimed international organists and competition winners. Highlights are: - Soprano Alisa Jordheim, who recently performed with San Diego Opera as Despina in "Così fan tutte" and Gilda in "Rigoletto." - An organ & orchestra celebration with concertos by Poulenc, Parker and Bach, plus a premier by Civic Organist Prieto Ramírez.
