Bach Collegium San Diego (BCSD), one of the country's leading baroque ensembles, opens its 2026–27 season with Salzburg Connections, pairing two towering figures of the Salzburg musical world: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Michael Haydn. Best known for the luminous "Laudate Dominum," Mozart's "Vesperae solennes de confessore," K. 339, exemplifies a devotional radiance, while Michael Haydn's Requiem in C minor, "Missa pro defuncto Archiepiscopo Sigismundo," MH 155, embodies an expressive intensity. Together, they present a compelling contrast of elegance and emotional gravity. The program closes with Mozart's beloved "Ave verum corpus," K. 618.
